The Head of the party of former President Blaise Compaore has been arrested for his alleged involvement in the September coup in Burkina Faso.
“Eddie Komboigo, president of the Congress for Democracy and Progress (CDP) was arrested Saturday at his home for his role in the coup. He has been questioned by the police who will present him on Monday or within a week before a judge,” a leading military official investigating the failed coup told AFP.
Eddie Komboïgo Constance’s name came up in the report of the Administrative Commission of Inquiry set up by the government after the coup.
Mr. Komboïgo is said to have left Burkina Faso, few days before presidential guards carried out the coup.

Meanwhile, four of seven ex-presidential guards who are wanted in connection with the attack on the army depot have been arrested.
Reuters news agency reports they were arrested hours after the Burkinabe army officials published their names and pictures in the local media.
The army also confirmed the death of another ex-presidential guard during a shootout on Saturday.
On Friday, eleven ex- presidential guards were arrested in connection with the attack on the armoury in Yimbi,near Burkina Faso’s capital Ouagadougou.
